Roberto Garcia
Roberto has developed the project of the hotel with great passion. His effort for trying to preserve the culture and the Mayan traditions led it to creating this concept. He knew the "Temazcal" in Cancun, which gave him the great idea of bringing developing the Mérida and trying to preserve its essence. Besides the traditions, Roberto maintains a Beagle dog breeding facility, studies cooking, and also contributed to the menu of the restaurant.
His parents are Yucatecans and now live in the region where Roberto admires the great cultural richness and the mysticism of these lands.
Na Lu'um works heavily on preserving the local culture, customs and Mayan traditions.
Na Lu'um works to preserve one of the most ancient customs for the Mayans, "The Temazcal," which means 'steam house'. The hotel's concept is focused on the traditional style of Mayan houses. All of the building was made in an effort in rescuing the traditions.
The name and location of the hotel inspired the idea to create a unique hotel. The location also aids to increase the number of visitors to the Mayapan zone, which is an archaeological zone that is not explored very often, but carries an important meaning for Yucatan and its history. The name of the hotel is composed of 3 parts Na: sun, energy, power; Lu: man, earth and Um: water, nature, harmony.
The hotel is entirely a non-smoking facility. The flames of smoking is dangerous towards the wood and palm that the hotel is made from. Na Lu'um aims to contribute towards saving energy by providing each room with a ceiling fan as opposed to air conditioning, which is in line with the ecological concept the hotel strives for.
